Hawley senior Brevin Stoa is the 2023-2024 Heart O’ Lakes Conference boys’ basketball MVP. It is the third All-Conference team selection for Stoa. His teammate, junior Noah Nelson, joins him on the All-Conference team, marking his first selection.
The season ended on Thursday night for the Pelican Rapids Vikings as they fell to Jackson County Central in a Class AA consolation semifinal contest at Gangelhoff Center at Concordia University in St. Paul.
Hunter Lorenson made a pair of free throws with 12 seconds remaining in regulation to pull Lake City into a 60-60 tie with Pelican Rapids in the 8AA quarterfinal round game at Target Center on Wednesday night. A Pelican Rapids turnover with just 6 seconds remaining led to a missed shot for the Tigers, sending the game to overtime. With senior guard Timmy Guler having fouled out in the final 20 seconds of regulation, the Vikings struggled to get anything going in overtime as Lake City out-scored them 12-1 and posted a 72-61 victory.
