Bulldogs Advance to State Semifinals with 28-8 Win over Cedar Mountain

The Ottertail Central Bulldogs have advanced to the 9-Player semifinals with a 28-8 quarterfinal round victory over Cedar Mountain on Thursday in Buffalo.  The Dawgs will now face Nevis at 1:00pm, Thursday, November 16 at US Bank Stadium.

 

OTC scored on a 92 yard drive in the first quarter when Mason Dalluge made a tremendous one-handed catch of a 19 yard pass from Jack Mekalson and Lane Dilly scored on the two-point conversion run for an 8-0 lead.  Later in the first quarter OTC went on a drive that featured a pair of fourth down conversions, culminating in a 2 yard TD run by Dilly and a Mekalson to Dalluge two-point conversion pass, giving OTC a 16-0 lead.  Cedar Mountain cut the lead in half after they stopped the Bulldogs on a fourth-and-one at the OTC 30 yard line and turned the excellent field position into points on a 17 yard pass from Carson Schiller to Branndon Pendleton, followed by a two-point conversion run which left the halftime score at 16-8.

In the third quarter, OTC capped a 14-play, 69-yard scoring drive with a one yard TD run by Dilly, increasing their lead to 22-8.  The drive ate up over six minutes of clock time 

A 4 yard run by Dilly in the fourth quarter put an end to the scoring.

Dilly had another big night running the football, finishing with 168 yards on 34 carries.  Chris Fronning had 74 rushing yards on 15 attempts.  Mekalson completed 10-of-14 passes for 100 yards and Dalluge hauled in 5 passes for 57 yards.  The Bulldogs had 255 yards on the ground and a total of 355 yards of offense.

Cedar Mountain finished with 184 total yards (48 rushing, 136 passing).  Their leaders were Cooper Freitag (10 carries, 45 yards), Blake Steffl (6 catches, 61 yards) and Zach Sandgren (1 catch, 46 yards).

Ottertail Central improved to 11-0 with the victory.
