Pelican Rapids hosted Rothsay in a high school volleyball contest on Tuesday and the Vikings recorded a 3-0 (25-18, 25-9, 25-16) victory over the Tigers.  “We were excited to return to our home court on our first day of school,” stated Head Coach Heidi Isaman.  “We started a little slow and struggled to serve receive their strong short serves, which prevented us from getting our offense in system.  We held on to win the first set and then attacked well in set two, keeping the Tigers out of system, which was our goal.  Tonight was a good team effort and a nice home win for all of our groups.”

Leaders for the Vikings were Anna Roisum (7 kills, 7 set assists, 1 ace, 5 digs, 1.5 block kills), Marie Backstrom (6 kills, 8 digs, 3 aces), Claudia Gurath (12 digs, 2 kills), Morgan Korf (20 digs, 2 aces, 2 kills, 2 set assists), Ellie Welch (9 set assists, 2 aces, 4 kills, 4 digs), Hazel Haugrud (7 digs, 1 ace), Zayla Arrow (3 kills, 1 block kill) and Allie Thompson (4 digs).

“We had many girls coming off the bench tonight and they came in ready to go and did their job,” added Coach Isaman.  “We are excited to start our conference schedule Thursday at home against DGF.
