Kim Hanson Mansell (Inducted 2018)

Kim Hanson Mansell grew up in Fergus Falls and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1992.

She was a three-year letter winner and starter in basketball, three-year letter winner in volleyball and four-year letter winner in golf. She participated in the state high school golf tournament as a senior.

Upon graduation she held six Otter girls school basketball records in points, assists and steals. She attained the 1,000-point mark during her basketball career at FFHS. Her father, Dennis, was head girls basketball coach.

Kim was recruited to play Division One basketball for Army and was the first Otter girls basketball player from Fergus Falls to be recruited by West Point. She played basketball for the Army women from 1992 to 1996.

She was women’s basketball freshman rookie of the year at Army. Other accolades included team MVP, defensive player of the year and team captain as a college senior.

Kim received the Superintendent’s Wreath for graduating with a 3.0 in academics, military and physical fitness.

She married Mike Mansell who was also a member of the West Point Class of 1996. He played men’s hockey for the Army squad at West Point.

Kim and Mike served as military intelligence officers in the U.S. Army for five years and were stationed in Germany and South Korea.

The Mansells currently are stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas, and live in the community of Belton. Mike continues to serve the Army as a dentist.

Kim and Mike have two children.

Son Peyton will be a redshirt freshman quarterback this fall at the University of Iowa for the Big Ten Hawkeyes squad. Daughter McKenzie is 14.

Kim is currently the executive pastor at Christian Life Church in Texas.
