Wes Windmiller (Inducted 1986)

Wes Windmiller Biography from the Hall of Fame Sports Banquet, April 28, 1986.
Wes Windmiller excelled in basketball both at Fergus Falls High School and the University of Minnesota.  In July, 1985 he retired from the Stillwater, Minnesota, school system after serving 37 years as a coach, teacher, athletic director, school administrator, and director of school personnel.
A 1941 Fergus High grad, Windmiller was MVP in basketball both his junior and senior years.  An all-district and all-regional selection, this vaulted him into the basketball program at the University of Minnesota.  He played before and after military service during World War II and was a starter in basketball for the Gophers in 1943.  As a 6-footer and 165-pounder, he played both guard and forward for the Gophers.
Windmiller was also an all-state end in football while at Fergus High, where he also participated in track.  He played American Legion baseball in Fergus Falls for eight years and with the Fergus Falls Red Sox for three years.  He lettered for the U of M baseball team in 1948, also being recognized with the Phoenix Award in recognition of athletic and scholastic achievements.
His wife, Ruth, is deceased.  His son, Ned, is a dentist who has a wife and three children.
"I think the Hall of Fame is a great idea and I'm honored to be selected," wrote Wes to the selection committee.
