Ann Williams (Inducted 1998)

Ann Williams Biography from the Hall of Fame Sports Luncheon, July 24, 1998.
      Ann Williams came to Fergus Falls Community College in 1978 and has excelled as coach for women's volleyball and basketball. She coached women's softball until 1985.
      Her college basketball coaching record is 356-151 and career basketball coaching record is 430-198. She has twice been named Coach of the Year, in 1989 (the first year the Women's Minnesota Community College Conference gave the award) and in 1998. The Lady Spartans won the state basketball title in 1985, have taken third place twice, and have won 15 divisional titles under Williams' leadership.
      In volleyball Williams has a college record of 360-297. She was coach of the year in 1997. This year's volleyball team took third place in the state tournament. Williams has led the Lady Spartans to eight divisional volleyball titles.
      A native of Eaton, Indiana, Williams is a graduate of Ball State University (Muncie, Indiana) where she majored in biology and earned a minor in physical education. She was a high school teacher and coach for five years in Indiana and Michigan before earning a Masters of Science Degree at the University of Michigan in 1973. She taught high school science and coached softball and basketball for four years at Blenheim, South Carolina, before coming to FFCC in 1978.
      Over the years, at FFCC, Williams has taught physical education, personal and community health, first aid, CPR, and general biology. In 1995 she was inducted into the Minnesota Community College Conference Hall of Fame.
