Tinjum Participates in All-Star Volleyball Matches

Underwood High School graduate Brenna Tinjum participated in the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association (MNVBCA) All-Star volleyball matches on July 25. Tinjum, a 5’10” outside hitter for Underwood is heading to the University of Minnesota-Morris this fall. 

Tinjum helped the Rockets to a 25-8 record in 2017 and a Section 6A runner-up finish, falling in four sets to Wadena-Deer Creek. Underwood was 10-0 in the Little Eight Conference, securing their fourth consecutive conference title. Tinjum was an All-Conference performer for the Rockets in all four years and was the MVP of the LEC in 2015 and 2017. She was named Honorable Mention All-State in 2016 and 2017, Academic All-State in 2017 and team MVP in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017. She was also named to the Class A Showcase All-Tournament team in 2016 and 2017. She set the school record for career kills with 1,599. 

The matches were held at Sauk Centre High School on Wednesday, July 25.  Results were as follows:

Red Team def. Blue Team 25-19, 26-28
Blue Team def. White Team 25-21, 25-19
Red Team def. White Team 25-20, 25-15

As a member of the White team in the All-Star matches Brenna recorded 9 kills, 1 block and 7 digs. Teammate Casey Volkmann from Wadena-Deer Creek led the team with 14 kills and 26 digs. The team was coached by Sue Volkmann (Wadena-Deer Creek), Amy Wagner (Canby) and Kristi Fehr (Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta).
