DL Girls Take First and Boys Take Second at Class AA State Golf Meet

The Detroit Lakes girls golf team shot a 638 to win the Class AA Girls State Golf Tournament by 28 strokes over Marshall (664).  Red Wing (665) was third and International Falls (687) came in fourth.  Sophia Yoemans of Red Wing won the individual title with a score of 129 (63-66) and her teammate Leah Herzog (66-71-137) was runner-up.

Shelby Busker (74-74-148) led the Lakers with a third place finish, Anna Cihak (72-80-152) was sixth and Maddie Herzog (80-75-155) was eighth.  McKenna Mallow (95-88-183) tied for 51st, Evan Westrum (101-98-199) was tied for 70th and McKenna Burhans (107-99-206) ended up in a tie for 78th place.

Perham eighth-grader Mallory Belka (86-81-167) tied for 20th place and Allie King (83-93-176) finished tied for 42nd.

In the Class AA Boys competition, Detroit Lakes was second with a 603, trailing Holy Family Catholic (600) by just three strokes.  Third place went to Red Wing (619) and Cloquet-Esko (622) was fourth.  Nate Deziel (69-68-137) of East Grand Forks won the individual championship.

Fergus Falls junior Aaron Shelstad (42-35-77) was tied for 32nd and senior Nate Longtin (81-79-160) of the Otters tied for 53rd place.  Barnesville freshman Adam Tonsfeldt (81-74-155) tied for 34th.

Detroit Lakes senior Wyatt Blomseth (74-72-146) tied for eighth place to lead the Lakers and Ryan Paskey (75-73-148) was tied for twelfth.  Collin Ginnaty (78-77-155) was 34th, while Ben Unruh (78-79-157) and Hunter Burnside (81-76-157) tied for 40th.  Lukas Justesen (80-94-174) rounded out the DL scoring with a 75th place finish.
