Wolverines Hand Bulldogs Season Ending 7-0 Loss

By Craig Olson - Wadena, MN

The Wadena-Deer Creek baseball team handed the Ottertail Central Bulldogs a 7-0 season ending loss in the Section 6A playoffs on Wednesday in Wadena.

"Today was a long day for the Bulldogs," said Head Coach Ryan Hendrickson.  "Wadena-Deer Creek was sure-handed in the field as they didn't commit a single error."

Jake Dykhoff (5IP, 0R, 7K, 0BB, 1H) earned the win and Justin Dykhoff threw two innings of relief.  Jake Dykhoff and Max Phillips had multiple hits for the Wolverines.

Daxton Olson (4IP, 1H, 1K) took the loss for OTC.  Cole Brandner led the Bulldogs at the plate, going 1-for-3.

"As our season ends I want to thank my senior players, Bennet Cameron and Brodey Rocholl," said Hendrickson.  "They have worked incredibly hard at everything they do and I am very proud of their accompllishments.  I wish Bennet and Brodey the best and know they will do well in the future.  I thank everyone who has been a part of our baseball program.  There are too many to list and I would feel terrible for forgetting people, so you know who you are and you are appreciated.  A huge thank you to my players and families, my coach staff, second year assistance coach Evan Meece, junior high coaches Mark Oscarson (4 years) and Dakota Aeling (1 year), statisticians Maggie Clauson and Kayla Rocholl, and of course my oh-so-patient wife, Janice Hendrickson.  We took a big step forward this year, I am very proud of the guys."
