Bulldogs Earn Baseball Split with Sebeka

By Craig Olson - Battle Lake, MN

Ottertail Central split a baseball double header with Sebeka on Thursday, losing 4-2 in the opening game and taking the nightcap by the score of 7-3.

The Bulldogs lost the first game despite out-hitting the Trojans 9-7. A Daxton Olson single brought home Bennett Cameron with the first run of the game in the first inning, however, Sebeka evened things out in the top of the third and took the lead with two more in the fifth and their final run in the top of the seventh. OTC got an RBI double from Cole Brandner scoring their final run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Isaac Tellers (7IP, 2R, 9H, 8K, 0BB) went the distance to pick up the win and Drake Larsen (5IP, 3R, 2ER, 5H, 5K) took the loss for the Bulldogs.

“We played pretty good ball, had a couple of mental lapses that cost us though,” said OTC Head Coach Ryan Hendrickson. “Sebeka drove Drake deep into counts and got some clutch hits.”

Noah Stevens (3-4, 2B, 2RBI, 2R), Mason Dailey (2-4, 2 RBI) and Tellers (1-4, 2R, 2SB) led the Trojans at the plate.

Brandner (2-4, 2B, RBI), Olson (2-4, SB, RBI), Cameron (1-4, R), Larsen (1-4, R) and Andrew Weniger (1-3, 2B) were the hitting leaders for OTC.

Brandner (6IP, 10H, 1K, 0BB, 3R, 2ER) earned the win on the mound and helped his own cause by launching a 3-run homer in the first and knocking in a run on a fielders’ choice ground out in the second. Brandner also had a double in the contest. Larsen had two hits and Brodey Rocholl was 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored and one run batted in.

Sebeka collected ten hits with Tellers picking up three of them. Dailey and Jack Lillquist had two hits apiece and Dailey belted a home run.

Ottertail Central is now 7-7. They will host West Central Area on Friday and Pelican Rapids on Monday before ending their regular season with a double header against New York Mills on Tuesday.
