Lady Knights Win Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Girls Title

The West Central Area lady Knights won the Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Girls Track and Field Invitational on Monday and the WCA boys were fourth.

West Central Area posted 141 points to win the girls event. Wheaton/Herman-Norcross was runner-up with a 113, followed by Ortonville (107), Tri-State (53), Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley (47) and Hancock (5).

Champions for the lady Knights were Amanda Drechsel in the 100 meter hurdles (18.45), Kaylyn Ulrich in the 100 meter dash (14.03), Ella VanKempen in the 1600 meter run (5:46.03), Teagan Nelson in the 800 meter run (2:35.49), Demara Bumgardner in the high jump (5-00.00) and Brynn Fernholz in the long jump (14-05.50) and the triple jump (32-00.75). They also won the 4 x 100 meter relay (56.11).

Second place finishes came from Taylah Schroeder in the discus (78-03.50), Victoria Valleramos in the long jump (14-04.50), the 4 x 800 relay (10:44.25) and the 4 x 200 relay (2:04.10).

In the high jump, Drechsel was third (4-10.00) and Fernholz fourth (4-10.00). Morgan Woodle was fourth (13-11.00) and Ulrich sixth (13-06.50) in the long jump, and Woodle claimed third (331-06.50) in the triple jump. Schroeder was third (28-02.00) in the shot put and Elly Schleicher was fifth (21-08.00).
