Lady Arrows Sweep Owls

By Craig Olson - Hancock, MN

Josey Ness shut down Hancock, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Ashby to a 1-0 victory on Friday during game one of their double header. In game two, Ashby defeated Hancock by the score of 8-6 to finish the sweep.

Ness led things off in the pitcher's circle, allowing two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out seven. Kalista Aamot, Courtney Koefod, and Amelia Barry each collected one hit to lead the Arrows.

The second game was tied at five with Ashby batting in the top of the sixth when Kalista Aamot singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Bats blistered as Ashby collected ten hits and Hancock tallied seven in the high-scoring game.

Hancock knotted the game up at five in the bottom of the fifth inning, when an error scored one run for the Owls.

Ashby tallied four runs in the fourth inning.  Anna Thormodson, Halle Dahlen, Taleeyah Johnson, and Amelia Barry all drove in runs in the frame.

“These girls worked hard for these two wins with lots of mental toughness and helping each other on the field,” said Head Coach Autumn Aeling of the Arrows. “After getting a few and then losing the lead we had to battle back and our big bats at the end of the game helped us claim the victory! These girls get better and better every game and truly are playing as a team through ups and downs.”
