Rockets Hold Comets to 23% Shooting in 44-28 Win

By Craig Olson - Fergus Falls, MN

The Underwood boys basketball team held Hillcrest to just 28 points on 23% (12-53) shooting on Friday night as they beat the Comets by the score of 44-28 in Fergus Falls.

“I was proud of how the guys performed in the game,” said Underwood Head Coach Jesse Arbuckle. “Our defensive effort and intensity was strong tonight.  We made smart decisions at key points in the game especially in the second half.  Levi Blaskowski (12 points) played one of his best games of the season on both ends of the court.  Brodey Rocholl (17 points) put on another strong offensive performance tonight and played a great game on the defensive end.”

Eric Konynenbelt led the Comets with 13 points, making 5-of-7 field goal attempts, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Konynenbelt and Sander Frustol each had 6 rebounds in the game and Nick Foss came up with 4 steals.

“Eric had another steady game for us,” commented Hillcrest Head Coach Gregg Preston. “We have had a very rough 10-day stretch where we have had difficulty finishing in the paint, shooting from the perimeter, and have been very passive in our screening, cutting, passing and attacking the basket. We are looking forward to working hard to fix many of our current deficiencies in the fundamental aspects of our game. Underwood finished well in the paint and was overall much more aggressive than we were tonight.”

Underwood (7-9) will face West Central Area in Barrett on Monday night.

Next action for Hillcrest is at Parkers Prairie on Friday night.
