Sharp Shooting Spartans Win at St. Cloud

The M State Men’s Basketball team shot 48.4% (30-61) from the field, making 50% (7-14) of their 3-point attempts and sinking 14-of-17 (82.4%) free throws in their 88-66 win over St. Cloud Technical and Community College on Wednesday night in St. Cloud. 

Chris Tungseth made 9-of-13 shots, including 5-of-8 treys and 8-of-11 free throws to lead the Spartans with 31 points. He also had 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Austin Miller had a solid game with 24 points, 7 rebound, 5 assists and 2 steals, and Joel Harris III was also in double figures with 11 points.   Harris III and Samuel Priem each dished out 3 assists. Aaron Solberg finished with 9 points and 9 rebounds. 

The Cyclones were held to 32.4% (22-68) shooting on the night. They made just 5-of-28 (17.9%) from beyond the arc. Izaiah Sanders led them with 14 points. Quentin Miller and Shariff Silas contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively. Jazz Boker and Jimmie McAfee led them with 8 rebounds apiece. 

M State (10-10, 4-3 MCAC South) will host Ridgewater on Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm. The Spartans will be hosting their annual Chili feed and Silent Auction fundraisers for the baseball team. Bernie and Sharon Erickson, long time Spartan Booster Club officers will also be inducted into the Spartan Hall of Fame between games.
