Chargers Take Tigers in Brandon

By Craig Olson - Brandon, MN

Brandon/Evansville beat Rothsay 49-37 in a Little Eight Conference boys basketball game Monday night in Brandon.

“The boys played a great first half of basketball defensively,” stated Head Coach Trent Hintermeister of the Chargers. “I thought our guys came out locked in defensively and it helped us find a little rhythm on offense. James Strese played well on both ends of the court tonight. I was happy with how Keagan Schiele played as well. Keagan has such a knack for anticipating passes and it was very important in tonights win.”

B-E was led by Strese with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting. He also had 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Taylor Bitzan (9 points, 6 rebounds), Schiele (7 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists) and Jake Hintermeister (7 points, 3 rebounds, 4 steals) also contributed.

Brandon-Evansville shot 35% (15-42) from the floor. The Chargers (9-6) will play at Henning on Friday.

Rothsay shot just 30% from the field and was led by Wyatt Curtis with 13 points and 6 steals, and Tanner Heier with 7 points and 5 rebounds.

“We again came out slow and gave up a big run to end the first half,” commented Rothsay Head Coach Taylor Fuhs. "We battled in the second half cutting the deficit to nine at one point, but couldn’t get over the hump.”

Rothsay (4-11) will play at Ashby on Friday night.
