Rothsay Ends Four Game Losing Streak with Win Over Hillcrest

By Craig Olson - Rothsay, MN

The Rothsay girls basketball team hosted Hillcrest in a Little Eight Conference game on Friday night and handed the Comets a 46-36 loss.

Jenna Fabre (19 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists), Kenzie Lankow (8 points, 13 rebounds) and Jayna Gronewold (6 points, 8 rebounds) led the lady Tigers. Grace Lider added 8 points.

“It was nice to see so many athletes contributing in different ways,” said Rothsay Head Coach Anita Heier. “We kept our composure and played a full game tonight.”

Hillcrest was led by Olivia Foss (11 points, 5 rebounds, 5 blocks, 5 steals, 2 assists), Mackenzie Foss (14 points, 6 steals), Paige Schultz (5 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals), Anna Rasmussen (4 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals) and Anna Murray (2 points, 6 rebounds).

“We came out with great energy and defensive pressure,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark. “Mackenzie Foss had a good night scoring 14 points and coming away with 6 steals. We did a good job getting in the passing lanes and ended up with 19 steals for the night. Rothsay knocked down some shots and played tough defense in the second half.”

Rothsay will host Lake Park-Audubon at 4:00pm Saturday.

Hillcrest will host Breckenridge on Tuesday night.
