Lady Spartans Struggle to Hit Their Shots in Loss at Ridgewater

The Ridgewater lady Warriors hosted M State on Wednesday night in the MCAC Southern Division opener for both teams. The home team jumped out to a 14-9 lead after one quarter, led 28-20 at the half and 45-30 after three quarters on the way to a 65-50 victory over the lady Spartans. 

Mariah Adams was the leading scorer for Ridgewater with 21 points on 7-of-16 shooting, including 6-of-12 from 3-point range. Abby Oberg and Heidi Sellmann added 14 points each and Morgan Swenson had 9 points and 8 rebounds. Sellman led the Warriors with a dozen rebounds and also had 3 assists and 2 steals. Oberg had a team high 4 assists and 3 steals. 

Ridgewater shot 35.3% (24-68) from the field and made 36.8% (7-19) of their three-point shots. 

Leaders for M State were Samantha Lupkes (17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals), Kassandra Algarate (8 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists) and Taylin Schleicher contributed 5 points and 8 rebounds. Ashlee Rimpila scored 9 points off the bench for M State. The Spartans made 33.9% (19-56) of their field goal attempts, but just 19% (4-21) of their three-point attempts. 

M State will host Minnesota West Community College on Saturday afternoon in Fergus Falls.
