Lady Arrows Lose Back to Back Games

By Troy Mickelson - Ashby, MN

The Ashby lady Arrows lost back-to-back games, falling to Parkers Prairie 80-23 on Thursday and losing to Ortonville 67-24 on Friday.

“Against Parkers we had a difficult time with their pressure defense,” reported Ashby Head Coach Troy Mickelson.  “Courtney Koefod went down early with an ankle sprain, being one of our point guards it was difficult for us to break their press and control the ball on offense.  We need to continue to work on getting rebounds and maintaining possession of the basketball on offense.  Tae-Yah Johnson played very hard tonight on both ends of the court.  Her presence on the defensive end helps set the tone of us.”

Leading the way in scoring for the lady Arrows was Kalista Aamot with 7 and Catherine Koefod with 4.

“On Friday night we made the trek to Ortonville and again we were without Courtney Koefod, but our girls came ready to play and worked hard on both ends of the court,” said Mickelson.  “Tae-Yah Johnson had a great game for us tonight with her intensity on the defensive end and she also had 8 points.  Kalista Aamot got into foul trouble early and finished the game with 4 points.  Josey Ness had 1 point and continues to be a good leader for our underclassmen.  I am proud of how our girls came out to play in the second half.  It is never easy to lose, but there is always learning that takes place.  As a team we need to take advantage of every learning opportunity.  These games will make us better in the long run.”

Ashby will travel to Evansville on Tuesday for a Little Eight Conference matchup against the Brandon-Evansville Chargers.
