Rockets Come up Short in Tight Battle with Park Christian

By Craig Olson - Underwood, MN

The Underwood boys basketball team came up short in a tight battle with the Park Christian Falcons on Monday night as the Rockets lost 74-70.  Park Christian led 39-31 at halftime and the Rockets outscored them in the second half 39-35.

"Park Christian came out firing and shot the ball very well in the first half," said Underwood Head Coach Jesse Arbuckle.  "Guys were in the right place, contesting their shots and stepping in, but they continued to knock the shots down.  We were down 18 at one point in the first half and I was proud of the resilience of this team to continue to fight back in the game and get the lead cut down to ten by halftime.  In the second half we continued to do the battle back and even took a two point lead around the four minute mark.  Steele Senske answered that lead with a quick three and it was a close game the rest of the way, but we couldn't hit the shot to put us ahead again."

Senske led all scorers with 31 points.  Tanner Brunsberg (24) and Darian Bogenreif (13) joined Senske in double figures for the Falcons.

Brodey Rocholl led Underwood with 21 points.  He was joined in double digits by Daxton Olson with 15 and Camen Andrews with 13.  Nick Seiple added 9 points and 13 rebounds, while Winston Heifort contributed 6 points and 11 boards.

"I was very proud of how we played as a team tonight," said Arbuckle.  "Our guard play was very strong with Olson, Rocholl and Andrews.  This was one of the best games I have seen Olson put together on both ends of the court."

Underwood (5-5) will host Brandon-Evansville on Thursday night.
