Dave Lindig (Inducted 2001)

Dave Lindig Biography from the Hall of Fame Sports Luncheon, June 9, 2001.

When it comes to swim coaching duties and volunteering with Fergus Falls swimming programs in general, Dave Lindig is at or near the top of the list.
A teacher in the Fergus Falls school system for 32 years, Lindig's association with the swimming program goes well beyond his years spent as a boys and girls swim coach from 1971 to 1987. He's been deeply involved with the city recreation AAU and USS swim programs, swimming camps, swim booster club, the YMCA swimming program, University of Minnesota swim booster club, and numerous other swim-related activities.
Lindig is a native of Wheaton where he participated in football, wrestling, baseball, and golf. His football coach was Fergus Falls native and Hall of Famer Jim Henkes. In wrestling Lindig served as co-captain for the high school Warriors for two years.
He attended the State College of Science in Wahpeton, competing in football and track, and finished his collegiate career at Bemidji State University where he participated in football and wrestling. He obtained a master's degree from BSU in 1976.
In 1975 Lindig was named Boys Region Swim Coach of the Year. He's currently a physical education teacher at McKinley Elementary in Fergus Falls and is a member of the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association of America.
Lindig has given back to the community in many ways. An example in his work in establishing a Kinship program in Fergus Falls. He lives with his wife Terri south of town. His children include Darin and David, Jr., and stepchildren Molly, Amie, and Matt.
