Viking Girls Place Fourth at Ada-Borup/NCW Invitational

The Pelican Rapids girls placed fourth at the Ada-Borup/Norman County West Track and Field Invitational on Thursday, scoring 54 points.  The event was won by Roseau with 93 points.  Crookston was runner-up with 91 and Thief River Falls took third witih 83 points.

The Vikings won the 4 x 800 relay (10:22.89), took second in the 4 x 400 (4:10.85) and ended up seventh in the 4 x 200 (1:58.75).

Top individual performances came from Riley Berg who won the high jump (5-00.00), Tatianna Wiley who was third in the 200 (26.58) and Mandi Sjolie with a third place in the 1600 (5:51.78).

Fifth place finishers included Mackenzie Thornton in the 100 hurdles (16.99) and Lily Williams in the 1600 (5:58.55).

The lady Vikings had Maddie Guler place seventh in the 200 (27.01) and Emma Hoover take seventh in the high jump (4-06.00).

The Pelican Rapids boys took tenth place out of eighteen teams, scoring 28 points.  D-G-F won the team title with 140 points, followed by Ada-Borup/Norman County West with 11.15, Roseau with 52.5, Crookston with 49, Park Christian School with 45 and Hillcrest Lutheran Academy with 41 points.

Carlan Haugrud was the champion in the 200 meter dash (22.94).  Matt Hanson was sixth in the 400 meter dash (54.49) and Carson Haugrud finished seventh (54.56).  Carson was also seventh in the discus (119-05), and David Johnston finished fifth in the 3200 meter run (11:05.96).
