Jim Morstad (Inducted 1990)

Jim Morstad Biography from the Hall of Fame Sports Luncheon, July 28, 1990.
 
      Jim Morstad was an all-around athlete at Fergus Falls High School who later played basketball at Concordia College in Moorhead.
      A 1971 graduate of Fergus High, Morstad was quarterback/defensive back for the Otters in football, a basketball guard, and first baseman/outfielder/pitcher for the baseball team.
      As football quarterback for the Otters, he tossed 10 touchdown passes and ran for five touchdowns his senior year. In basketball Morstad was a three-year letterman, co-captain, and MVP his senior year. He was a member of the all-state basketball team his senior season when he posted a 18.0 points-per-game average. He was on the Otter baseball team that participated in the state tournament in 1969, and lettered all three years in high school. He was the Otters' leading hitter for two of those seasons.
      The 6-1 170-pound athlete was a three-year letterman in basketball at Concordia from 1972 to 1975. He was captain his senior year, leading the Cobbers in assists and free throw percentage. Morstad played four years of American Legion baseball from 1968 to 1971.
      He currently is associated with N.F. Field Abstract Company, Fergus Falls. He and his wife, Tracy, have two children, Alex, 3, and Erin Kate, born May 22 this year.
