Ashby Basketball Skills Camp Set for July 14-17

The Ashby Basketball Skills Camp will be held Monday through Thursday, July 14-17 from 9:00am to 11:30am for Kindergarten through eighth graders at the Ashby High School.

The camp is open to boys and girls in grades K-8 from the 2013-2014 school year.  The cost for the week is $40.00 per camper with a maximum of $80.00 per family.  The cost covers the week of instruction and a camp t-shirt.  Any proceeds from the camp will be split between the basketball programs at Ashby High School.  The camp offers smaller balls and lower baskets for the younger players.

"We cover a variety of skills and drills, but there will be a strong emphasis on shooting and shot progression, ball handling and footwork, as well as some good old fun," said Boys Head Coach Jeremy Knick.

Knick and Troy Mickelson, the girls head coach, will be coordinating the camp.

If you have questions you can contact either coach at the school or call Coach Knick at 218-747-2723.

Isaiah Anderson Memorial Softball Tournament and More

This is an exciting time of year for the friends and family of Isaiah 'Pudge' Anderson. We get to accomplish 3 major goals in a matter of a couple months.

First and foremost we simply get to be together. As we started this journey 7 years back our most important goal was to be united and create a sense of togetherness, boy we have really rallied and become one big family. As a committee we have always been 'family' but now over 7 years 'Pudges' family has grown to hundreds of people coming from all over. We all come together to not only remember Isaiah but to have a reunion and do some great things for each other and our community.

Another major goal of ours is to help and strengthen community with Isaiah and his family in spirit. The Isaiah Anderson Memorial has taken Isaiah's favorite things and favorite groups of people into consideration when donations are placed. This year the foundation has the ability to donate to three places! We will be donating towards Delagoon's newest baseball field for the second year. The foundations donation will aid the building of quality dugouts for a game Isaiah most definitely loved, baseball. Again, on the baseball theme, the foundation will sponsor 2 little league baseball teams! It is very surreal to see these youngsters playing America's game with Isaiah's name on their jerseys, it is as if he is still out on the field with them coaching his heart out.

Most importantly, we will be able to give a small but meaningful amount of relief to the family of Brian Anderson. Brian was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident early this spring. Brian is now looking over his expecting wife and 2 children, only now he does this with our Lord in heaven. Brian was also a close friend and family member of all of our past softball tournaments, as he was a big time softball enthusiast. Brian and Brian's family are near and dear to our hearts, it is our respectful pleasure to help in a small way; we love you.

Our final goal is to host an awesome yearly event like our softball tournament. The Isaiah Anderson Memorial Softball Tourney is a remarkable tournament in which hundreds of people come together to enjoy friends, family, the game, and of course give thanks to the Lord for looking over us and our friend Isaiah.

The softball tournament is held this Saturday, June 14. Games start right away 9am with pool play Saturday morning, home run Derby at about 1, and a bracket championship to follow the Derby. There will be full concessions including grilled burgers and brats, silent auction, music, raffles, and bunches of fun! Please come to our tournament and spend a minute, hour, or day with us.

Thank you to our sponsor's and to the community of Fergus Falls!

Sincerely,
Friends and and Family of Isaiah Anderson
