|Draxten Ready to Play|
Fergus Falls High School graduate Hannah Draxten is ready to go for her third season at Iowa. Draxten was a part of the Iowa Media Day on Monday and shared some comments about the upcoming season.
Draxten has been plagued with back problems throughout her career, and played in just four games last season. She finally underwent back surgery after the Big Ten Tournament, and didn’t get back to playing until August.
“I haven’t felt this good for two or three years,” the third-year sophomore forward said.
The biggest adjustment for Draxten was getting back into the physical play inside.
Asked if she was a little apprehensive the first time she played in a scrimmage, Draxten said, “You know, I was. I remember the first time I played, I went in for a rebound and I thought, ‘Ooh, maybe should I stay out and not have contact.’ But the more I played, the more comfortable I got.”
Draxten said she’s ready to play.
“I think I’m already there,” she said. “I’m not scared to dive on to the floor for anything now. I figure my back feels good now, so don’t hold anything back.”
